Multicultural education is a way of teaching that is effective and universal for students from all kinds of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. It includes being culturally responsive while teaching. Multicultural education exposes to everyone that diversity exists and it is okay for people to be different.The goals of multicultural education includes having students accept and respect the differences of all all other students. Students should be their most unique self. Every student should become successful with their education regardless of their background. Multicultural education encourages students to learn cross-cultural communication. It also encourages students to engage in activities that address social justice issues and learn how to respond them. In addition with multicultural education, students are encouraged to learn about their own cultural group as well as the cultural groups that helped formed American society. Multicultural education intends to reduce prejudice, stereotype, and racism.
