How can multicultural education affect broader social issues that impact our society? (e.g. intercultural communication/relations, prejudice, stereotypes, crime & poverty rates, achievement gaps, etc.)

Multicultural education is the answer to social issues that impact our society. Students that were taught with multicultural education will understand the proper way to respond to social issues. Teachers who educate their students through multicultural education will impact how they live outside of the classroom. They will also understand that they can still achieve their goals and dreams regardless of where they come from. If a student is taught and understand that prejudice, stereotypes, and crime is wrong, they will be more likely to be a better person. If the teacher or instructor shows that they truly care and support the student, trust may be built. The student would accept guidance from the teacher if he or she trusts the teacher. There may be cases where the students are from homes that promotes these social issues, they may disregard what they are taught at school.  Overall, the student is his or her own person and will ultimately make his or her own decision for how to react during a situation that implies a social issue.
