Personally, I grew up being the "different one." I've always felt like no one could understand me as a person and that I was the one that always had to change. If I knew how to accept myself when I was younger, I wouldn't have had to spent so much time questioning my identity. I could've been the one to educate others that it was okay to be different. One insight that I've gained is I can't expect people to just know. Not every is like me and that is okay. Not every one came from where I came from and that is okay. It's okay that people don't understand right away. We all have room to grow and we all have something to teach others about. This insight will impact my personal/ professional life because if I ever felt out of place again, because of my culture I can always be the one to help others understand where I am coming from. It's unnecessary to be a victim to people who are uneducated about culture. If I can be the one to make the change, it could impact them positively and hopefully they can be better to others in the future.
